Jenn & Kevin | Sainte Famillie Winery July 26, 2018
The vows this couple wrote to each other actually made me cry behind the lens. The natural beauty surrounding us at the Sainte Famille Winery here in Nova Scotia, paired with the natural elegance of Barefoot Blooms approach to local, seasonal and organic arrangements was simple and stunning. I mean, garlic curls in the brides bouquet! Live music rang out over tractors driving by during the ceremony, and filled the dance floor when the sun went down. It just doesn’t get much better than that. Except when you have a couple who elevates all of those choices by letting you see the real them, in every moment of the day. My favorite, for sure, was when we were wrapping up shooting the formals and “Pretty Woman” started to play from the cocktail hour (the song, not the movie) and I caught Jenn and Kevin starting to groove, the tiniest bit while I was checking a setting on my camera. So I hollered across the vineyard “Dorky dance party please” and they went for it. My dad used to tell a story about how they would “have a time” for a wedding reception back in the day by throwing down a plywood dance floor on the front lawn of the tiny family home which overlooks Terrance Bay and dance to fiddle music till they “fell asleep” from the moonshine. Your day was as close as I can imagine to how relaxed and romantic having that time on your wedding day must have been. It was a pleasure to be invited.
