Christina & Ryan July 15, 2017
“Love one another, but make not a bond of love: Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls. Fill each other’s cup but drink not from one cup. Give one another of your bread but eat not from the same loaf. Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone.” A snippet Christina’s mom read, by poet Kahil Gilbran. Still trying to figure why this resonated with me. Maybe it’s because it feels real, and alive and speaks to the “work” of a marriage, and not just the pretty parts. Christina & Ryan are so solid, real, and checked in with each other, and the wedding day celebration they crafted had the same qualities, as well as some stunning pretty parts! Her dress came from a family trip to Germany, the flowers were from My Mothers Bloomers, Shining Waters Marine served up Mamosa’s post for their walk down the isle, and True North DJ’s played Katy Perry’s “Fireworks” while fireworks actually lit up the sky. I teared up a bit, watching Christina practice dancing with her dad in their dining room while getting ready early in the day, and laughed out loud when Ryan made some honest reactions to my posing suggestions. What a way to spend Canada Day, and Ryan, you have no excuses for forgetting your anniversary date!
