Kim & Nelson | An epic East Coast Peggy’s Cove Plan B Wedding August 16, 2020
Pre-pandemic Nelson and Kim had plans to elope in Scotland this summer. When that became impossible they moved onto Plan B, a tiny intimate wedding on the rocks of Peggy’s Cove. Schedules were timed to sunset, it was going to be lush, romantic and epic. Instead we got typical “Nova Scotian” weather. The fog rolled in so thick you could barely make out the iconic lighthouse. The parking lot had a handful of cars and not a tour bus in sight. The tourist season for Peggy’s Cove was on pause.
As we were shooting a local cafe owner asked Nelson and Kim if they were the couple who couldn’t get married in Scotland. “Everyone in Peggy’s Cove knows everybody’s business,” she said. Her voice cracked and she fought back the tears as she wished them heartfelt congratulations.
I’m not crying, you’re crying.
Her sincere best wishes and authentically Nova Scotian response brought home how challenging finding hope in this “new normal” has been for us all.
I feel beyond blessed to be invited along on Plan B’s by couples who just want to get hitched and who, at this point, could care less if the weather is less than ideal. Thank you Kim and Nelson, for inviting me to be part of such an intimate celebration.
